"If there is anxiety in a man’s mind let him quash it, And turn it into joy with a good word"
Yonah Keyak
M.S.W.

Coming from the culturally diverse city of San Francisco, Yonah’s unique upbringing helps bring an open-minded approach to his therapy. Topics seen as taboo in the Jewish community do not faze him, rather, he loves to explore them with his clients, often giving them a breath of fresh air. When asked about Yonah’s personality he is described as creative, out of the box, and non-judgmental. This allows Yonah to be easy to speak with. With this in mind, Yonah felt it to be his life’s mission to help those who need a safe place and a non-judgemental ear. Yonah has completed his Rabbinical studies at RIETS where he did shimush under R’ Moshe Tendler Z”l for Taharat HaMishpacha. At the same time, Yonah studied social work with an emphasis on pre and post-marital counseling. Under the guidance of R Moshe Tendler Z”l he learned how to navigate various struggles couples are faced with in a halachic marriage. Beyond marriage and the Rabbinate, Yonah was also the social worker for at-risk youth at Columbia Secondary School (CSS) in Harlem where he created an educational curriculum to boost the teenagers’ confidence and provide them tools to succeed academically. After this, he was the high school therapist for a Syrian Yeshiva in Brooklyn for at-risk youth.

With this experience, Yonah enjoys spending his free time giving Choson classes. Trained by the Eden Center in Israel, Yonah’s Choson course weaves together halacha, mental health and how to be a good husband. Yonah hopes to help the next generation of Chosons cultivate healthy, meaningful, and enjoyable marriages. There is still hope for Chosons who do not take Yonah’s course, as he has successfully turned many bachurim into menches and equal partners after chuppa by guiding them with marital counseling.
