"Invent a new therapy for each client."
Lauren Stein
MA, ATCL

Meeting Lauren or seeing her perform, you would never guess that this gregarious and easygoing woman was diagnosed with ADHD as a child, had no social skills (or indoor voice) for her formative years, and was prone to temper tantrums. It was a long process with many miracles that enabled her to not only make friends, but thrive socially, stay calm in stressful situations, and adapt to changes on a dime. She credits most of those miracles to training in theatre, public speaking, and especially improv.

Lauren was so grateful for her life changes through improv — not to mention that it was fun! — that she dedicated her life to teaching improv to others, starting in 2008. After a few years, and hearing stories of the changes it made to her students’ lives, she began training as an Expressive Arts Therapist. With her upgraded skills and certification, Lauren worked in Canada as a therapist, counsellor, and coach, specializing in adults and teens with ADHD and/or Autism. She also ran support groups and taught classes for parents of people with ADHD, Autism, learning and behavioral difficulties.

Lauren wrote a book about the therapeutic benefits of improv theatre, called Fun at Work: Play Your Way to Better Mental Health

Lauren is dedicated to using the skills and life philosophy of improv to help people develop social skills, presentation skills, networking and professional skills, dating and relationship skills, build confidence, resiliency, and expand one’s comfort zone, as well as to enjoy life more and find the humor in any situation. She uses talk therapy as well as fun and games.

Lauren made Aliyah from Toronto and Guelph, Ontario, Canada to Jerusalem in June 2022.
