Gavriella (Gavi) Bernstein is a dedicated graduate student with Bellevue University’s clinical mental health counseling program. She earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Empire State University in Human Development with a concentration in Psychology and has a diverse background in child development, crisis management, and community outreach. As a counselor in training, Gavi’s areas of interest include marriage and family therapy, sex therapy and sexual health education, trauma work, and the treatment of phobias, anxiety, and hoarding disorders. Gavi believes that in most cases, an integrative and individualized approach to therapy is the most effective way to foster client-centeredness and to achieve meaningful emotional healing. In her work as a student therapist, Gavi seeks to create a safe and empathetic environment where clients can feel free to explore themselves and their inner worlds. Gavi made Aliyah from New York in 2013, and currently lives in a suburb of Jerusalem, with her husband and three children.

Dissociation, suicidality, addiction, and other coping mechanisms signal that our bodies feel too unsafe to occupy. Allowing our bodies to communicate with us reveals their inherent wisdom, which can bring profound relief.
