Sharni is a warm and supportive therapist who creates a space where clients can feel understood, explore what is happening in their lives, and discover their own strengths. She believes that when people feel supported and understood, they are better able to find their own way forward.
Sharni works primarily with adults and parents, with a particular focus on neurodiversity, anxiety, OCD, and the emotional challenges that can come with feeling different or struggling to navigate the world around you. She also works with parents who want to better understand and support their children.
Sharni has more than 25 years of experience in community health and private practice. Her approach draws from CBT, DBT, psychodynamic and attachment-based therapy, and nervous-system regulation. She has also completed EMDR Levels 1 and 2 training.
A particular passion of Sharni’s is parenting. Her popular workshop, “Rewiring Children for Success,” is designed for parents, helping them better understand their children and respond in ways that support their emotional and developmental wellbeing.
Sharni also has extensive experience supporting people through Aliyah, immigration, and culture shock. She lectures for AACI on the stages of Aliyah and the emotional adjustments involved in building a new life.
Sharni is an Australian-licensed psychologist and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy from the University of Sydney.
At the heart of Sharni’s work is her belief that people can learn to understand themselves better, build on their strengths, and create meaningful change in their lives.
