Both of our programs are built upon the same principles:

  • Exceptional supervision and mentorship
  • Meaningful client experience

  • Community engagement and leadership
  • Personal and professional development

We meet you where you are on your professional journey

The Place Practicum is The Place’s signature pre-graduate clinical training program, created exclusively for students considering a future career in counselling, psychotherapy, psychology, social work, or related helping professions.

Designed to bridge the gap between undergraduate education and graduate training, the Practicum provides meaningful client experience, exceptional supervision, and full integration into The Place Professional Team.

From your very first day, you become an active member of our clinical community, developing the confidence, skills, and professional foundation that will prepare you for graduate studies and a future career in mental health.

The Place Associates Training Program

More Than a Placement - Beyond the Clinical Hour

For Master’s students, postgraduate trainees, and recent graduates in the mental health professions.

Whether you are completing the clinical placement requirements of your university or professional training institution, or you are a recent graduate seeking additional supervised experience before entering independent practice, The Place Associates Program provides an exceptional environment in which to grow.

At The Place, we intentionally use the term “Associate” rather than “Intern”. We believe our Associates are emerging professionals who become valued members of our clinical team.

More than simply completing placement requirements, our Associates receive exceptional supervision, meaningful clinical experience, leadership opportunities, and guidance in becoming confident, ethical, and accomplished professionals.

Professional growth extends beyond the consulting room.
Each Associate receives a professional profile on The Place website, providing an opportunity to introduce themselves and establish their professional identity. Associates are encouraged to write articles on topics of clinical interest, contribute to The Place’s Instagram page, and share their developing voice with the wider community. These experiences foster confidence, creativity, and the skills needed to build a thriving professional practice.

Most clinical placements help you complete your degree.

The Place Associates Program helps you become the clinician you aspire to be.

What can I say? the most important aspect of a social work degree is a good placement and even more than that an attentive committed supervisor. I know most students are not fortunate enough to have those. I am so blessed to have gotten the combination of a wonderful placement and an even more fabulous supervisor.
