Tamar Varon, M.Sc.

Mrs. Tamar Varon is a certified psychotherapist, and family therapist for the last two decades. She is a graduate of The University of North Texas, receiving her Master’s degree in Clinical Sociology, with a concentration on the Family Unit. Presently, she is completing her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, specializing in the treatment of complex trauma, and children’s behavioral and emotional challenges. She also has completed a certificate of training in both Art and Drama Therapy, and received advanced training in the treatment of Eating Disorders and Addictions in the U.S.

Furthermore, Tamar has had specific training and expertise in working with families, couples, teens, and children. She sees clients suffering from depression/anxiety, obsessive thoughts & worries, phobias, eating disorders/addictions, and conflicted relationships.

Her work is with individuals or couples both privately and in groups or workshops. In her private practice, where she sees adults, and children with their parents, Tamar uses her insight, sensitivity, and encouragement to help her clients make positive changes in their lives.

Tamar uses an eclectic approach, utilizing a wide variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, IFS, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Art, Client-Centered, Guided Imagery, Gestalt, and more.

In addition, Tamar has had much experience working with women suffering from issues after childbirth and postpartum depression working as a therapist for Nitza (The Israel Center for Maternal Care) for many years. She also worked for many educational institutions and therapy clinics in Jerusalem, Bnai Brak, and Modiin Ilit, where she facilitated group work for children to increase their social development and interactions with peers, and other disorders such as selective mutism, fears, and other behavioral difficulties.

Besides her private practice in psychotherapy, Tamar works for Taazumot, a family and children’s therapy clinic in Jerusalem, and teaches Psychology courses in Naaleh College. She also teaches other professionals how to facilitate workshops for children, and specific courses in therapy, including art and drama therapy, group facilitation, Cognitive behavioral group counseling, and short term psychotherapy groups for children.
