Profound Parenting

Kids don’t come with instructions…
Those you have to pick up separately

Facilitated by Rabbi Yonasan Bender, LCSW

Beginning Wednesday January 22nd, 2020

20:30 – 22:00

Every worthwhile goal has two major parts to work out. “The What” and “The How”. As parents, we’ve gotten the first part worked out down pat. “The What” is what we want for our kids. We love them to pieces; we don’t just want them to survive the world they’re growing up into. We want them to be able to develop an understanding of their purpose in life, achieve their dreams, and feel the satisfaction of a meaningful life that they create for themselves. Ultimately, we want them to thrive by taking the values we’ve passed on to them to leave the world just a little bit better than the way they found it. No one needs a parenting class for “The What”. The thing we’re all struggling with is “The How”. How do we set ourselves up as parents for success, how do we orient ourselves towards our kids to be more effective, how do we behave on a fundamental level to make “The What” into more than just a dream? How do we make that dream into a reality?

Over the past 150 years, psychology has been tackling the question of how. How do we encourage our children to grow, how do we discipline them properly, how do we teach them to act out with their little hands and feet the family values we want to pass on to them? More than that, how do we prepare our children for the road of life to keep them safe, mentally healthy, productive, and fulfilled? Modern psychology has spelled out the answers to these questions with an effective “parenting instruction manual”. Kids might not be born with an instruction manual but, nowadays, you can pick that up separately.

This six-part course will present you with proven strategies to achieve “The What” in your parenting that is supported by the American Psychological Association as an effective parenting strategy with a broad research base – something more than 90% of parenting courses can’t claim to have. This course will take you through the most important strategies of parenting and you will learn, in a practical and concrete way, how to reduce defiant and stubborn behavior, increase rule following and calm, grow your child’s self-reliance and self-confidence, and protect them against the growing problems of anxiety and depression. Being armed with “The How” you’ll be in a better position to make your dream of “The What” become a reality.

In this course you will learn how to:
  • Reduce defiant and stubborn behavior.
  • Increase rule following and calm
  • Grow your child’s self-reliance and self-confidence.
  • Protect against anxiety and depression.
